Beverly Douglas is the team lead for Food and Nutrition for IU Health. For over 10 years she has managed a staff of 25 people. In our interview, she states, "We work with multiple food restriction ranging from patients with diabetes, heart concerns, low fat/high protein, soft diet or even liquid diets. Providing the wrong foods to the wrong patient at the wrong time is a recipe for disaster. The previous process had no way of tracking the history of the food distributed to a patient short of digging through a forest of boxes and paper to find the let alone tracking sheet with a nurse approval of a change in the patient's diet plan."
The biggest value Beverly experienced in working with Trays was being able to view the entire history of a tray from today, last week, last month or even last year. This has not only increased customer service when someone calls in to determine the ETA of a tray but has also helped avoid individuals threatening lawsuits due to an interaction with the wrong type of food claimed to have been delivered.
